Meet Crystal Rodriguez

Texas A&M University Nursing Major

"Anything is possible with the power of education."

Obtaining a college degree has been a goal of Crystal's since she was young. She attributes her ambition and academic success to her parents, who immigrated to the U.S. from Mexico and Peru. Crystal's parents "instilled in me that education is the most important thing to advance, and my parents have always given me everything I could possibly dream of to ensure that I get a good education."

At Texas A&M, Crystal has thrived academically and has worked in several capacities to serve the university and her peers. Crystal has worked as a peer mentor to incoming freshmen and as a caretaker to a student with cerebral palsy. Crystal also works as a campus tour guide, leading Spanish language tours for prospective first-generation students like herself and their parents.

Crystal was recently accepted into the School of Nursing at A&M and anticipates graduating in 2025. After graduation, Crystal hopes to return and work at a hospital in Houston, focusing on pediatric or cancer patients. She is thankful for the continuous support from her friends, family, and the Chapelwood Foundation, and she says, "I just want to make each and every person who has put effort towards me proud, know that I can do it and know that I am always paying it forward."
